Why is pasted content not counted in word statistics?
If you often paste content in WonderPen, you may notice that when pasting large amounts of text, WonderPen’s word count statistics (you can press F7 to view) do not change. This is because WonderPen ignores pasted content by default and only counts content you manually type.
Why is it not counted?
Section titled “Why is it not counted?”WonderPen’s word count statistics system only counts text entered by users by default, and does not count large pastes and deletions, because in most usage scenarios, this can more accurately reflect the user’s actual output.
For example, some users may collect reference materials used during writing into documents. If one day a large amount of reference materials are pasted, and these pastes are all counted, the word count for that day will be very high, which may not be the number users expect to see.
Or when users are organizing documents, if they delete a lot of text one day, and if these deletions are all counted, it may cause the word count for that day to be much lower than the actual writing word count.
Therefore, by default, WonderPen ignores large pastes and deletions when counting word count.
How to include it in statistics?
Section titled “How to include it in statistics?”Of course, there are also some scenarios where users may want to include pasted content in statistics.
For example, a user writes an article in another software, and then copies and pastes the article into WonderPen. At this time, although the behavior is pasting, the pasted content is indeed the user’s actual writing output, so they want it to be counted.
If you have such a need, you can increase the statistics ignore threshold in settings, as shown in the following figure:

The default value of this threshold is 100, which means that if the number of characters affected by a paste or delete operation exceeds 100, this operation will not be counted in word statistics.
You can increase this threshold as needed, for example, set it to 100000, so that every time you paste or delete, as long as the number of characters does not exceed this value, it will be counted in statistics.
